A Message from Cece

I think we all hoped 2021 would be a kinder year. Sadly, our world is still a place of uncertainty and unrest. The Texas legislature recently enacted laws that target transgender individuals, Black and Brown communities and women. This keeps me up at night as I try to figure out how to make this city, state and country a better place for our community, where all of these identities intersect.

It is this same sleepless fervor with which the Board and staff at Resource Center approached our recent strategic plan. With the DFW region as the fourth most populated area in the United States, the Center is presented with unique, and seemingly unending, challenges on how we serve our LGBTQIA+ community. Over the next five years, we plan to tackle these challenges by:

  • Expanding health and wellness services to underserved areas all over DFW by launching our SexyHealth mobile unit;
  • Focusing on the social and emotional needs of LGBTQIA+ youth, adults and families through Family and Community services;
  • Prioritizing mental health services to meet the growing demand for quality, affirming counseling and addiction support and
  • Refusing to stay quiet when elected officials continue to target and abuse the most vulnerable members of our community.

Of course, it is YOU who make these big ideas possible. It is only through your giving, volunteering and advocating that we touch the lives of more than 62,000 people every year. We need you now more than ever.

I ask you to please make a gift to Resource Center this December. The work we are doing together will create a brighter, healthier and more affirming world for our LGBTQIA+ community.

Thank you for all you have done. Thank you for all you continue to do. Thank you for believing in Resource Center. You are the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Gratefully,
Cece Cox
